Fascia and soffit

The boards that protect the roof edge.

uPVC and timber fascia, soffit and barge board installation and replacement.

The fascia carries the gutter and protects the rafter ends. When it starts to rot, the damage is usually further in than it looks.

We take the old boards off, check the rafter feet and the sarking, and replace what has failed rather than cladding over it.

How we work

Clear stages. No surprises.

  1. 01

    Inspect

We look behind the boards, because what is rotting is usually the timber rather than the plastic.

  2. 02

    Replace

Failed timber cut out and renewed, then the new boards fitted properly over it.

  3. 03

    Finish

Clean lines, correct ventilation, and any guttering refitted level.

Questions answered

Questions about this service.

Most roof repairs are smaller jobs than people expect, a handful of slates, a failed flashing, a cleared and re-fallen gutter. The cost depends on access, height and how much of the roof needs to come off to reach the fault. We survey before we quote and give you a fixed written price. If the honest answer is a €300 repair rather than a €15,000 roof, that's the quote you'll get.

Almost always what's underneath. Underlay that's perished, battens that have gone soft, inadequate ventilation, or fixings that were wrong for the pitch and exposure. The tiles are the last five per cent of the job, and the part you can see, which is why everyone shows you that.

Ask to see recent work nearby that you can drive past. Ask for a written quote and a written guarantee on workmanship. Ask who will actually be doing the work. Ask what's happening with the deck, the underlay and the ventilation, not just the tiles. Anyone who quotes without looking at the roof, or who won't put the guarantee in writing, is worth avoiding.
